The idea of the Adhan (call to prayer) in Islam was proposed by Hazrat Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA). After the Muslims migrated to Madinah and started building their community, they needed a clear way to call people to the daily prayers.
Initially, different methods were considered, like using a bell or a horn, but none felt suitable for the Islamic way of life. Hazrat Umar (RA) suggested the idea of a human voice calling the believers to prayer. Interestingly, around the same time, a companion named Abdullah bin Zayd (RA) saw a dream in which the method of the Adhan was shown to him. When he shared the dream with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Prophet confirmed it and instructed Bilal (RA) to give the first Adhan.
