The Holy Quran, revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ over a period of 23 years, is the final and most important scripture in Islam. It is composed of 114 chapters, known as Surahs, which vary in length from the longest, Surah Al-Baqarah, to the shortest, Surah Al-Kawthar. These Surahs are divided into Ayahs (verses), totaling over 6,000 verses, containing guidance, laws, stories of previous prophets, and moral teachings for humanity.
The Surahs are arranged neither chronologically by revelation nor by topic, but rather in a manner that combines spiritual, ethical, and practical guidance. The Quran begins with Surah Al-Fatiha, known as the opening chapter, which is recited in every unit of the Muslim prayer (Salah). Each Surah has a unique purpose: some emphasize monotheism and belief in Allah, others address social justice, legal matters, or the stories of past prophets to provide lessons and warnings.
