In response to this request, the Prophet (PBUH) sent 70 skilled Qur’an reciters and teachers, most of whom were from the Ansar. These men were deeply knowledgeable about Islam and dedicated to spreading its teachings.
However, the mission ended in a tragic incident known as the Tragedy of Bir Maunah, where most of these companions were ambushed and martyred by the tribes of Najd, despite Abu Bara’s promise of protection.
This event is remembered as one of the most painful incidents for the Prophet (PBUH), as he grieved the loss of his trusted and pious companions who gave their lives for the sake of dawah (Islamic preaching).
