  • Muawiya
  • Hazrat Ali
  • Khalid Bin Waleed
Correct Answer: C. Hazrat Ali

Detailed Explanation

The Battle of Jamal also known as the Battle of the Camel took place in Basra in the year 656 CE which was the 36th year of Hijrah. It was the first civil war in Islamic history between two major groups of Muslims.

Why the Battle of Jamal Happened

After the martyrdom of Hazrat Usman (R.A) there was unrest in the Islamic state. Hazrat Ali (R.A) became the fourth Caliph but many companions of the Prophet (PBUH) believed that the killers of Hazrat Usman should be punished immediately.

Hazrat Aisha (R.A) along with companions like Talha (R.A) and Zubair (R.A) went to Basra to demand justice for the blood of Hazrat Usman (R.A). They wanted to bring the murderers to trial. However misunderstandings and conflicts between the parties led to a tragic battle.

Key Events of the Battle

The battle is called the Battle of the Camel because Hazrat Aisha (R.A) was sitting on a camel during the fight. She was calling for peace but due to confusion and the actions of rebels the situation turned violent.

More than 10,000 Muslims were martyred from both sides. This includes many noble Sahabah. It was a day of great sorrow for the Muslim Ummah.

After the Battle

After the battle Hazrat Ali (R.A) treated Hazrat Aisha (R.A) with great respect. He ensured she was escorted safely back to Madinah. Both sides regretted the battle deeply. The main cause was misunderstanding and manipulation by people who wanted to divide the Muslims.

This battle is an important lesson in Islamic history. It reminds us that even the closest companions of the Prophet (PBUH) had human disagreements but they remained respected and honored in Islam. We must never speak ill of the Sahabah and always learn from history with respect and wisdom.
