At which place did the first revelation occur to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)?

The first revelation to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ took place in Cave Hira, located on Mount Noor near Makkah. This event marks the beginning of prophethood and the revelation of the Holy Quran. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to frequently retreat to this cave for meditation and reflection on spiritual matters, seeking closeness to Allah and pondering over the state of his society, which was steeped in idolatry and moral corruption.

During one of these retreats, the Angel Jibreel (AS) appeared to him and conveyed the first verses of the Quran: “Iqra’! (Read!) in the name of your Lord who created…” (Surah Al-Alaq, 96:1). This moment was both awe-inspiring and overwhelming for the Prophet ﷺ, marking the commencement of his mission to guide humanity. The first revelation emphasized the importance of knowledge, learning, and the recognition of Allah as the sole Creator.
