  • 50 km
  • 70 km
  • 90 km
  • 100 km
Correct Answer: C. 90 km

Detailed Explanation

The city of Taif is approximately 90 kilometers (about 56 miles) from Makkah. It is located southeast of Makkah in the mountains and has a cooler climate compared to the desert heat of Makkah.

Taif holds great historical and religious importance in Islam. One of the most emotional and powerful events in the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) happened in this city. After the death of his beloved wife Khadija (R.A) and his uncle Abu Talib, the Prophet (PBUH) faced extreme pressure and hostility in Makkah. In search of support and to spread the message of Islam, he traveled to Taif in the 10th year of Prophethood.

The journey to Taif was not easy. He had to walk the long distance of 90 km through rocky terrain and hot weather. When he reached the city, instead of being welcomed, he was treated with great cruelty. The leaders of Taif rejected his message and even encouraged street children to throw stones at him. He was badly injured and had to take shelter in an orchard.

Despite the painful rejection, the Prophet (PBUH) did not lose hope. He made a famous dua (supplication) to Allah, expressing his sadness but not complaining. He asked only for Allah’s pleasure and mercy.

Later, the Prophet (PBUH) was offered help by the angel of mountains, who asked if he wanted the people of Taif to be crushed between two mountains. But the Prophet (PBUH) refused and said, “I hope that Allah will bring from their descendants those who will worship Him alone.”

Today, Taif is a developed city and is known for its pleasant weather, fruits, especially grapes and pomegranates, and its rich Islamic history. The distance of 90 km makes it a common stop for pilgrims and tourists who visit Makkah and want to follow the footsteps of the Prophet (PBUH).
