The name of the sword used by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the Battles of Badr and Uhud was Al-Adb.
Al-Adb means “The Cutter” in Arabic. It was a sharp and strong sword gifted to the Prophet (PBUH) by one of his companions, Saad ibn Ubadah (R.A). This sword became notable for its use in two of the most important battles in early Islamic history: the Battle of Badr (2 AH) and the Battle of Uhud (3 AH).
Although many swords were owned by the Prophet (PBUH), Dhu al-Faqar is often mistakenly thought to be the one used in these battles. Dhu al-Faqar became famous later, especially with Hazrat Ali (R.A).
Learning the names and history of the Prophet’s belongings, like Al-Adb, helps us connect better with Seerah and Islamic history. This sword represents bravery, strength, and honor in the path of Allah.
