Which was the favourite month of Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ?

Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ, the final Prophet of Islam, had a deep affection for the month of Ramadan, which is universally recognized as the most sacred month in the Islamic calendar. Ramadan holds profound spiritual importance because it is the month in which the Holy Quran was revealed, providing guidance, wisdom, and a framework for righteous living. The Prophet ﷺ used this month to engage more intensely in worship, fasting, prayer, recitation of the Quran, and acts of charity.

Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam, and the Prophet ﷺ emphasized its significance not only as a physical act of abstinence from food, drink, and other permissible desires but also as a means of spiritual purification, self-discipline, and empathy for the less fortunate. Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ would increase his night prayers (Tahajjud), recite the Quran extensively, and encourage the community to do good deeds during this blessed month.

The Prophet ﷺ’s love for Ramadan also extended to the social and charitable aspects of the month. He highlighted helping the poor, feeding the hungry, and engaging in community service. The Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr), which falls in Ramadan, was described as better than a thousand months, further elevating the month’s significance in the Prophet’s ﷺ life.
