The daughter of Hazrat Umar ibn Al-Khattab (R.A) who was married to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was Hazrat Hafsa bint Umar (R.A).

She became one of the respected wives of the Prophet and is honored with the title “Umm-ul-Momineen” (Mother of the Believers). She was born around 605 CE and accepted Islam with her father, Hazrat Umar (R.A), in the early days of the religion.

Hazrat Hafsa (R.A) was first married to Khunais ibn Hudhafa (R.A), a companion of the Prophet, who passed away after the Battle of Badr. After her husband’s death, she became a widow at a young age. Hazrat Umar (R.A) was concerned about her future and proposed her hand to other companions. Eventually, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) married her in the third year of Hijrah (625 CE).

Hazrat Hafsa (R.A) was known for her intelligence, strong memory, and piety. She memorized many parts of the Quran and played a vital role in preserving the Quranic manuscript. After the Prophet’s passing, the written compilation of the Quran was kept in her custody during the time of Caliph Abu Bakr (R.A) and later used by Uthman ibn Affan (R.A) to produce official copies.
