  • None of these
Correct Answer: A. 7

Detailed Explanation

The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah had 7 main clauses. It was a peace agreement between the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Quraysh tribe of Makkah. This treaty was signed in the 6th year of Hijrah (628 CE) at a place called Hudaybiyyah, near Makkah.

The Prophet (PBUH) and about 1,400 companions went to Makkah with the intention of performing Umrah. However, the Quraysh did not allow them to enter. After discussions and negotiations, the two sides agreed on a peace treaty. Although it seemed one-sided at first, the treaty proved to be a turning point for Islam.

The 7 key clauses of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah were:

  • Muslims would return to Madinah that year without performing Umrah.

  • They would be allowed to come back the next year and stay in Makkah for 3 days only.

  • There would be no fighting between the Muslims and Quraysh for 10 years.

  • Any tribe could join either the Muslims or the Quraysh and would be protected by that side.

  • If a person from Makkah came to Madinah without permission from their guardian, they would be returned.

  • But if someone from Madinah went to Makkah, they would not be returned to the Muslims.

  • The Muslims and Quraysh would respect each others alliances and maintain peace.

At first, some companions felt the treaty was unfair, especially Clause 5. But the Prophet (PBUH) accepted the terms calmly and wisely. This agreement allowed Muslims to focus on spreading Islam without conflict. Within two years, Islam had grown so much that even the Quraysh broke the treaty due to their violation of its terms.

The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah is a powerful example of how wisdom, patience, and diplomacy can bring long-term success. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed strong leadership by prioritizing peace and long-term goals over short-term emotions.

Eventually, the treaty led to the peaceful conquest of Makkah. It gave Muslims the freedom to share their faith and brought many tribes into Islam. The 7 clauses of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah hold great historical importance in the life of the Prophet (PBUH) and the growth of Islam.
