Who is Lee Kuan Yew?

Lee Kuan Yew was the founding Prime Minister of Singapore, serving from 1959 to 1990. He is regarded as the architect of modern Singapore and one of the most influential Asian leaders of the 20th century.

Lee Kuan Yew was born on 16 September 1923 in Singapore, which was then a British colony. He studied law at the University of Cambridge, where he graduated with top honors. Returning to Singapore, he became active in politics and co-founded the People’s Action Party (PAP) in 1954.
