Samuel Morse is the man who developed the telegraph code, which we know today as Morse Code. He was an American inventor and artist. In the early 1800s, people had no way to send messages quickly over long distances. Letters took days or even weeks to travel.

Samuel Morse worked on a new system with the help of other scientists. He created a machine called the telegraph. It could send messages using electric signals through wires. But there was a problem – how to turn words into signals?

That is when Morse invented the Morse Code. He made a system of short and long signals (called dots and dashes) for each letter and number. For example, the letter A is “•–” and the letter B is “–•••”. Using this code, people could send any message quickly over the telegraph.

This was a big change in communication. For the first time, people could send messages in minutes, not days. It helped in business, war, and news. The telegraph and Morse Code became the first steps toward the fast communication systems we have today – like telephones, radios, and even the internet.
