IP stands for Internet Protocol in computer networking. It is one of the core protocols of the Internet Protocol Suite, used for routing and addressing packets of data so that they can travel across networks and arrive at the correct destination.

There are two main versions of IP in use today:

• IPv4: Uses 32-bit addresses, e.g., 192.168.1.1


• IPv6: Uses 128-bit addresses, designed to solve IPv4 address exhaustion

Internet Protocol operates at the network layer of the OSI model and is responsible for logical addressing and routing. Without IP, data wouldnot know where to go or how to get there on the internet.
