SMTP stands for
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. It is used to send emails from one server to another. When you send an email, your email client uses SMTP to deliver the message to the mail server.
SMTP works on port 25 (or port 587 for secure submission).
Other options:
- HTTP: Used to browse websites
- FTP: Used to transfer files
- POP: Used to receive emails from the server to your inbox
