Qaroon, known as Korah in the Biblical tradition, was a wealthy and influential man from the tribe of Bani Israel. He lived during the lifetime of Prophet Musa (A.S) and initially was among the believers. The Holy Quran mentions Qaroon’s story in Surah Al-Qasas (verses 76–82), highlighting his extraordinary wealth, arrogance, and eventual downfall.

Qaroon was entrusted with the treasury and was famous for his riches, to the extent that the keys to his treasure chests were heavy enough to be carried only by a group of strong men. Instead of using his wealth for good, he became prideful and attributed his success solely to his own knowledge and efforts, disregarding Allah’s favor and blessings.

Prophet Musa (A.S) and the righteous among his people advised Qaroon to be humble, give charity, and use his resources for the benefit of others. However, Qaroon rejected this counsel. His arrogance reached a point where he plotted against Prophet Musa (A.S) and tried to challenge him publicly.

As a result of his transgression, Allah punished Qaroon in a unique and severe way — the earth swallowed him and his wealth, leaving no trace. This event served as a powerful lesson for the people of Bani Israel and all believers thereafter.

The story of Qaroon teaches several important lessons in Islam:
