Imam Shafi (رحمة الله علیه), one of the most influential scholars in Islamic jurisprudence, was born in the year 767 AD (150 AH) in Gaza, Palestine. His full name was Muhammad ibn Idris al-Shafi‘i, and he is the founder of the Shafi'i school of thought (Madhhab) in Sunni Islam. This school is one of the four major legal schools and is known for its balanced approach, combining reason and tradition.

He memorized the Quran at a very young age and later traveled extensively to gain knowledge from other prominent scholars of his time, including Imam Malik (رحمة الله علیه). His legal methodology laid great emphasis on Hadith and introduced a systematic approach to Islamic law (Usul al-Fiqh).
