The first Wahi (divine revelation) was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the year 610 AD in the cave of Hira, located near Makkah. At the age of 40, while meditating and reflecting on the state of his people and worshipping Allah in solitude, the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) descended with the first verses of the Holy Qur’an from Surah Al-‘Alaq (96:1-5), starting with:
"Iqra' bismi rabbika allathee khalaq"
