The Holy Qur’an, revealed as the final divine guidance for humanity, mentions the lives, struggles, and missions of various Prophets. Among them, Hazrat Adam (AS) is the first Prophet mentioned in the Qur’an. He is also regarded as the first human being created by Allah and the father of all mankind.
In Surah Al-Baqarah (2:30-39), Allah describes the story of Hazrat Adam (AS). Allah created Adam from clay and breathed into him His spirit, making him a living soul. He was taught the knowledge of all things, giving him superiority over the angels in terms of knowledge. When Allah commanded the angels to prostrate to Adam, they obeyed, except Iblis (Shaitan) who refused out of arrogance.
Hazrat Adam (AS) and his wife Hawwa (Eve) were placed in Paradise, where they lived peacefully until they were deceived by Shaitan into eating from the forbidden tree. As a result, they were sent to Earth. However, Allah accepted their repentance, making Adam not only the first man but also the first Prophet, guiding his descendants to worship Allah alone.
First Creation of Humanity: Allah created Adam with His own power as the origin of mankind.
First Prophet: He was chosen to deliver divine guidance to his children and future generations.
Test of Obedience: His story highlights lessons about obedience, repentance, and Allah’s mercy.
Beginning of Prophethood: His role set the foundation for the chain of Prophets that continued with Hazrat Nooh (AS), Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), Hazrat Musa (AS), Hazrat Isa (AS), and finally Hazrat Muhammad (SAW).
