During Hajj, Muzdalifa is one of the most important stations after Arafat. On the 9th of Zil-Hajj (the Day of Arafat), after sunset, pilgrims leave Arafat and proceed towards Muzdalifa. Once they reach Muzdalifa, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is to combine Maghrib and Isha prayers and perform them together. This unique practice is part of the rituals of Hajj and signifies obedience, unity, and the remembrance of Allah.

At Muzdalifa, pilgrims do not pray Maghrib at its usual time. Instead, they delay it and combine it with Isha. Both prayers are offered together with one Adhan (call to prayer) and two separate Iqamahs. This practice is based on the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW), who instructed his companions to do the same during his Farewell Hajj.

The wisdom behind combining Maghrib and Isha at Muzdalifa is to allow pilgrims to focus on supplication, rest, and preparation for the next day (10th Zil-Hajj), which includes major rituals such as stoning the Jamarat, sacrificing an animal, and performing Tawaf. Spending the night at Muzdalifa and remembering Allah is also a Wajib (obligatory) act of Hajj.

It is also Sunnah to collect small pebbles from Muzdalifa for the ritual of Rami (stoning) at Mina. Pilgrims spend the night there and perform Fajr prayer at its time before heading to Mina.

Thus, combining Maghrib and Isha at Muzdalifa is a unique practice exclusive to Hajj, deeply rooted in the Sunnah, and reflects the organization and spirituality of this great act of worship.
