  • Surah Al-Qasas
  • Surah Al-Kahf
Correct Answer: B. Surah Taha

Detailed Explanation

The story of Bani Israeel worshipping the golden calf is one of the most important lessons in the Holy Qur’an regarding obedience to Allah and the dangers of falling into shirk (idolatry). After Prophet Musa (A.S) led Bani Israeel out of Egypt and Allah blessed them with freedom from the tyranny of Pharaoh, they were tested with faith. When Prophet Musa (A.S) went to Mount Sinai (Tur) to receive the divine commandments (Tablets) from Allah, he left his people under the guidance of his brother, Prophet Haroon (A.S).

During this time, a man known as As-Samiri misled the people by crafting a calf out of their gold ornaments. This calf made a sound like a cow due to the wind passing through it, and many of Bani Israeel were deceived into worshipping it. Despite Prophet Haroon’s (A.S) warnings, they continued in this grave sin until the return of Prophet Musa (A.S).

This incident is mentioned in Surah Taha (verses 83–97), where Allah records Prophet Musa’s anger upon seeing his people falling into idol worship so soon after being saved by Allah. Musa (A.S) threw the Tablets in anger and confronted Haroon (A.S) and Samiri. Later, Allah forgave those who repented, but severe punishment came upon those who persisted in disbelief.

The story serves as a timeless reminder that guidance is from Allah alone and that human beings can easily fall into misguidance if they are not steadfast in faith. It highlights the weakness of Bani Israeel in repeatedly disobeying Allah despite witnessing His countless miracles.

For Muslims, this story is a warning to avoid shirk, remain firm in Tawheed (Oneness of Allah), and to obey the teachings of the Prophets. It also shows the importance of leadership, patience, and the dangers of blindly following those who misguide.
