Firon (Pharaoh) and his army were drowned in the Qulzum Sea, which is historically identified as a part of the Red Sea. According to Islamic tradition and historical records, this miraculous event occurred during the time of Prophet Musa (A.S), when he was leading the Bani Israel (Children of Israel) out of Egypt.
The Holy Qur’an mentions this incident in several verses, particularly in Surah Ash-Shu’ara (26:63-66) and Surah Al-Baqarah (2:50). Allah commanded Prophet Musa (A.S) to strike the sea with his staff, causing the sea to part and form dry paths for the believers to cross. When Firon and his army pursued them, the sea closed back upon them, drowning them completely.
The term “Qulzum Sea” refers to the Gulf of Suez region, which is the northwestern arm of the Red Sea near Egypt. Historically, Arab geographers and Islamic scholars referred to this body of water as the Bahr al-Qulzum (Sea of Qulzum). It holds great significance in both Islamic and biblical traditions as the site of divine intervention against the tyranny of Firon.
