Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (R.A) is famously known as “Tarjuman-ul-Qur’an,” which means “Interpreter of the Quran.” He was a close companion and cousin of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and is regarded as one of the most knowledgeable Sahaba in the field of Qur’anic interpretation (Tafsir).

The Prophet ﷺ made a special dua for him, saying: “O Allah, give him understanding of the religion and teach him the interpretation of the Qur’an.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (R.A) was extremely young during the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ but had a sharp memory and deep curiosity for learning. After the Prophet’s passing, he became a prominent source of Islamic knowledge, especially in Tafsir, Hadith, and Fiqh. He is credited with compiling and explaining many Quranic verses through authentic narrations.

Because of his scholarly work and deep insights into the meanings and context of the Quran, scholars of all generations have referred to him as the leading mufassir (interpreter) of the Quran among the companions.
