Abdul Aza - The real name of Abu Lahab was Abdul Aza. He was one of the uncles of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ but is known in Islamic history for his fierce opposition to Islam. Despite being a close relative of the Prophet ﷺ, Abu Lahab rejected his message and publicly insulted and opposed him from the beginning of Prophethood.
The name &ldquo;Abu Lahab&rdquo; means &ldquo;Father of Flame,&rdquo; a nickname he was given due to his fiery and harsh personality, as well as possibly his reddish complexion. However, this nickname took on a deeper meaning when Allah revealed Surah Al-Masad (Surah 111), condemning him and predicting his punishment in the Hereafter:
