Namaz-e-Janaza (Salat-e-Janaza) is the Islamic funeral prayer performed collectively for a deceased Muslim before burial. This prayer is unique compared to the five daily prayers because it consists only of standing (Qiyam) and Takbeers without Ruku (bowing) or Sajda (prostration).

This practice is common across the majority of Islamic schools of thought (Hanafi, Shafi’i, Maliki, Hanbali).
