In Islam, there are five designated Meeqats (مِيْقَات) for those intending to perform Hajj or Umrah. Meeqats are specific geographical points from which pilgrims must enter into the state of Ihram before proceeding toward the Kaaba in Makkah. These boundaries were established by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to organize and regulate the spiritual preparation of pilgrims coming from different regions.

Each Meeqat is assigned based on the direction from which pilgrims travel:

Anyone crossing these Meeqats with the intention of Hajj or Umrah must be in the state of Ihram. Skipping Ihram before passing a Meeqat without a valid excuse requires a penalty (dam).
