Ramadan in the year 36 Hijri (656 CE) in Madinah. He was a senior companion of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and a member of the Banu Umayyah clan of the Quraysh. His martyrdom marked one of the most tragic and politically significant events during the Khilafat-e-Rashida (Rightly Guided Caliphate) era.

Hazrat Usman (R.A) was known for his piety, generosity, and leadership. He served the Muslim Ummah for over 12 years as Caliph. One of his most notable achievements was the compilation and standardization of the Holy Qur’an into a single unified Mushaf, which was distributed across the Islamic world to preserve its recitation and text.

Unfortunately, during the latter part of his rule, political unrest and fitnah (civil discord) began to rise. A group of rebels from Egypt and other provinces surrounded his home in Madinah, demanding changes. Despite the threats, Hazrat Usman (R.A) refused to retaliate with violence and insisted on resolving the matter peacefully. On the 18th of Ramadan, while he was reciting the Qur’an, he was attacked and martyred inside his home.

His martyrdom caused great sorrow in the Muslim world and triggered a chain of events that led to further divisions, including the Battle of the Camel and Battle of Siffin during the caliphate of Hazrat Ali (R.A).
