The last Sariya (expedition) sent by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) was under the command of Hazrat Usamah bin Zaid (RA). This took place in 11 A.H, shortly before the passing of the Prophet (S.A.W). The purpose of this expedition was to march towards the Byzantine (Roman) territories in Syria to respond to previous threats and to uphold the strength and presence of the Muslim community.

Hazrat Usamah (RA) was very young at that time, around 18 years old, which surprised some companions because many senior Sahaba were present. His father, Hazrat Zaid bin Haris (RA), had also been martyred in the Battle of Mu’tah against the Romans, and now his son was entrusted with this great responsibility.

Although the departure of the army was delayed due to the illness and later the death of the Prophet (S.A.W), it was executed successfully during the caliphate of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA). This expedition demonstrated the discipline, obedience, and continuity of the Muslim mission even after the passing of the Prophet (S.A.W).
