Anas Bin Malik (R.A) was one of the closest companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and is known to be the last Sahabi to pass away. He lived a long life, dying around 93–103 AH (approximately 711–721 CE), in Basra, Iraq. Anas Bin Malik (R.A) served the Prophet ﷺ for about 10 years from the time he arrived in Madinah until the Prophet's passing.
He is well-known for narrating a large number of hadiths—over 2,000 narrations—making him one of the most prolific transmitters of the Prophet’s traditions. Due to his long life and continuous involvement in teaching Islam after the Prophet’s death, he played a major role in the preservation and spread of knowledge among the Tabi'un (followers of the Sahabah).
His death marked the end of an era of the noble generation who physically accompanied the Prophet ﷺ. His contributions to hadith, fiqh, and Islamic education have left a lasting impact on Islamic scholarship.
