The last Surah revealed in the Qur’an is Surah Al-Nasr (Surah No. 110). This short Surah, consisting of three verses, was revealed in Madinah and is sometimes called “Surah Al-Tawdī‘” (the Surah of Farewell). It signified the completion of Prophet Muhammad’s (ﷺ) mission and the nearing of his departure from this world.

In Surah Al-Nasr, Allah (SWT) informs the Prophet (ﷺ) that with the clear victory (Fath Mubin) and the entry of people into Islam in large groups, the mission of conveying the divine message had reached its completion. The Surah instructs the Prophet (ﷺ) to glorify Allah with praise and seek His forgiveness, as the end of his blessed mission was approaching.

This Surah was revealed after the Conquest of Makkah (Fath Makkah), when Islam had spread rapidly across the Arabian Peninsula. It is considered one of the final revelations of the Qur’an in its entirety, although some individual verses from other Surahs (like Surah Al-Maidah 5:3) were revealed later.

Scholars explain that Surah Al-Nasr was both a glad tidings of victory and a gentle indication that the time of the Prophet’s (ﷺ) return to Allah was near. It carries a powerful lesson of humility: even after the greatest achievements, a believer should glorify Allah and seek forgiveness.
