After the Battle of Uhud in 3 AH, the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir was expelled from Madina by the command of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The tribe had violated the terms of the constitution of Madina and conspired against the Muslims. Their breach of the peace agreement became evident when they plotted to assassinate the Prophet (PBUH) during a visit to their settlement under the pretense of negotiating financial matters.
Following their betrayal, Allah (SWT) revealed verses in Surah Al-Hashr condemning their actions and commanding their expulsion. The Muslims, led by the Prophet (PBUH), surrounded the fortresses of Banu Nadir. Eventually, they surrendered and were allowed to leave with whatever they could carry except weapons. Most of them relocated to Khaybar and Syria.
This incident serves as an important lesson in Islamic history about loyalty to agreements and the consequences of treachery. It also highlights the Prophet’s (PBUH) justice in dealing with enemies even during times of war.
